Highland Obedience Rolling Enrollment Dog Training ClassesWe are expanding our offering of rolling enrollment dog training classes by adding some adult dog rolling enrollment classes. This format has worked very well for us with puppies and adolescents. We think this will be a great format for those of you who really enjoy continuing work on your dog's obedience skills! Give it a try and then give us some feedback.
Puppy Kindergarten has an 8 week
curriculum. Puppies 8 to 16 weeks sign up for 4 weeks at a time
($60). Topics covered include basic obedience commands, house
training, biting, jumping, chewing, handling and restraint, and,
most importantly, socialization. This is primarily an off-leash
class. Pups get to play together and learn that playtime and
training go hand in hand.
After graduating from Puppy Class,
adolescent dogs may move into Adolescent Level One. Adolescents
sign up for 6 weeks ($100) and then may add another 4 weeks ($60).
The focus of this class is to keep adolescent dogs from driving
their owners mad. Adolescent dogs are like adolescent humans,
almost impossible to live with. But it is more critical than ever
to give them the support and structure they need to become good
adult citizens. In this class, dogs get to play together with
frequent intermissions for group down stays, settling exercises,
off leash walking with the owner and more. View the schedule!
This is a rolling enrollment class
primarily for Level 2 and 3 graduates. Sign up for 6 sessions
($100) and come to the ones you want. You have three months to
complete the package (and you can also attend sessions in the
Agility, Games and Tricks class!) Every class will include some
review work and a particular topic focus for that session. For
example, one session may focus on honing distance commands, another
may focus on off leash walking, sometimes we'll work on honing hand
signals and directions. We are also going to start some nose work
this winter. I am particularly excited about this for my own dogs.
It is a great way to really engage our dogs' brains. (We'll start
doing a bit of it here in Upper Level and, if it is popular, we may
offer a nose work class in the spring or summer.) In the last
session of each month we'll review all the topics for that month.
We may even have some friendly competitions! View
the schedule!
This is a rolling enrollment class
for Level 1 graduates and up. Dogs who have only completed Level 1
are eligible for this class but must have their basic commands
under their belts! This class is meant to be lots of fun! In some
classes we'll focus on honing our agility commands so that when
outdoor classes recommence in the spring, our dogs will have a
whole new level of competence. Some sessions will focus on teaching
our dogs new and dazzling party tricks to impress our friends.
Other sessions will focus on obedience games, fun ways to improve
our dogs attention and compliance.
