January 21 WORDS - teaching dogs to understand and differentiate words. NOT as easy as you think! Understanding words is a huge challenge to dogs. They understand body language much better than we do. Most of the verbal commands we give dogs are coupled with lots of visual cues. To do advanced work with our dogs, we have to habituate them to listening to us. You will find this an interesting task for you and your canine, and probably much harder than you think!
January 28 SHAPING - an introduction to shaping behaviors. If you have never shaped a behavior with your dog, this is an introduction to creating a thinking dog. Once you get started, you'll get hooked!
February 4 LATENCY & DIFFERENTIAL REWARDS - Focus on sharpening foundation skills.
February 11 DIRECTIONS - learn how to communicate directions to your dog with precision. Stand, Forwards, Back.
February 18 DIRECTIONS, cont'd - Left, Right.
