One Family's Story
![]() The Mayall family with their dog, Banzai Our family was in a very difficult situation. We had adopted a shy, seemingly passive dog from the local shelter. The dog, though lovable, soon became very protective of his new home, and fairly aggressive to non-family members. Along with a very stubborn personality, this made him very difficult for us to live with. However, even with all of his faults, our family had already come to love the dog. We were in the very unenviable position of deciding whether or not we could keep him in our home. At this point, we were very fortunate to have been given Michele Taipale's name. She changed the course we were on. With both patience and humor, she worked with both the dog and our family. Our dog learned not only basic training skills, but self-control and appropriate behaviors. More importantly, our family was taught how our behaviors and nonverbal communication were affecting the dog's behavior. Because of Michele's training our family life has changed, and our home is peaceful again. Our dog will be part of our family forever. We never would have accomplished this without Michele. She took an incredibly challenging dog and gave us the skills to manage him, so that we could continue to live with him, and love him. |
